Genital and Reproductive Systems

Realistic Sex Ed for Adults

The reproductive systems of all sexes include organs internal and external as well as hormones.

The Female Textbook Genitalia

THE CLIT! HERE IT IS! The infamous Glans Clitoris!

The Female Textbook Reproductive System.

The Female reproductive system includes:

• 2 ovaries — Female hormones hub, eggs are stored here.

Fallopian tubesThe egg’s personal highways.

Uterus (womb)Lining grows, egg implants and baby grows here

CervixBulbous connection between vagina and Uterus

VaginaThe muscle tube between cervix and entrance

Dont understand periods? i got you.
The first period, which is known as the Menarch, can occur anywhere from 9 years of age to 16 years of age. typically it occours around 12-13 years of age.
The menstrual cycle is usually around 28 days in length on average and i say on average because absolutely this can change from person to person. I’ve never had a proper cycle in my life.

The cycle usually consists of ovulation, where the egg is released from the ovary (sometimes both, sometimes none ) and the endometrium (the lining of uterus) grows.
The endometrium is where the egg will implant and be nurtured if pregnancy occurs (fertilisation).

Side note: Endometriosis is when endometrial tissue grows where its not meant to. It sucks.

If pregnancy (fertilisation) does not occur, the lining (mostly blood), sheds from the uterus walls and is expelled vaginally. This is often called the “Period” or “menstration”.

Menopause refers to a when a woman no longer menstruates and naturally becomes infertile with age. This usually happens from the age of around 45 onward, on average 50, 51 is the common age. There are of course people who experience this earlier and later than these ages.

Menstral Products

There are many kinds of menstral products that assist with comfort while shedding the lining of the uterus such as Pads (worn inside the underwear sticking to the underwear to absorb flow), Tampons (absorbant expanding device that soaks up the flow regularly replaced), Menstral cups (placed internallly to catch and collect flow regularly emptied) and my personal favourites Period Underwear which is the safest option (absorbent underwear). Everyone has their own preferred methods of dealing with their periods, theres no right or wrong way (so long as whatever you use is regularly changed and sterile so as to prevent infection most especially something called toxic shock syndrome, which is very serious). Stay safe and keep things clean and sterile and change as you need to. Some people have heavier and lighter flows than others so some people may need to change every couple hours others can change a little less frequently, it entirely depends on the indiviual.

It is imortant to note here that periods should not be more painful than the occaisional pesky cramp and should not make you feel unwell. if you do feel out of the ordinary physically or mentally please do make an appt with your doctor. There are many available medications and treatments that can make your time of the month far easier to cope with if you experience any excessive discomfort. I used to think the pain and mental disturbances i was experiencing was normal due to toxic, and flat out false, societal ideas surrounding periods. It is NOT normal to go through hell once a month. There are options out there to improve your experiences and please do not endure because someone told you to, you have the right to be comfortable and not in pain.

The Male Textbook Genitalia & Male reproductive system

The male reproductive system contains external and internal parts.

The male reproductive system is made of the following parts:

Penis  the organ used to pee and perform penetrative sex. It contains the urethra, which carries both urine and semen.

Scrotum this is a loose bag of skin that hangs behind the penis. It holds and helps temperature regulate the testes.

Testes — The balls inside the sack. They produce sperm and testosterone, which is the male sex hormone.

Epididymis this is where ya swimmers learn to swim and pass through out into Vans Deferens

Vas deferenssperm highway from the epididymis up to the prostate gland and urethra.

Prostate glandThe walnut-sized, pleasure spot some enjoy stimulating. The urethra runs through it and it produces the fluid support for the sperm.

UrethraA tube that extends from the bladder to the external opening at the end of the penis. Carries both urine and sperm.

Seminal vesicles2 glands that provide the bulk of the fluid in Semen

The brain also has an important role in reproductive function, as it controls the release of sex hormones.

PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR IF YOU NOTICE ANY CHANGES TO WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU. REGULARLY CHECK YOURSELF OUT IN THE MIRROR AND FOLLOW UP ANY CHANGES WITH YOUR DOCTOR. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Genital Variations

External genital differentiation

Sexual education is extremely flawed in most schools as the variations of genitalia is almost never explained or anatomically depicted. A general educational approach is needed that will explain that textbook genitalia is a depiction of the mechanics of the “majority” but certainly does not explain, nor is it inclusive of the many variations of characteristics that the wider population inclusive of minorities contains. So, for the curious cats that are infact interested to learn and see what they could potentially be working with in a partner, or to simply have a better understanding of the wide variety of genitals, stay tuned.

First of all cis identifying people’s sexual characteristics vary a great deal with different parts being more or less pronounced and there are different, mostly religion based but also ritualistic rights of passage and ceremonial practices, that can also be a factor in how a persons genitalia can look. Circumcision and Female Genital Mutilation are very common. Whilst i personnally am not a fan of anyone making decisions about any person’s genitals without their consent, for many, this is their normal.

I never want a person to feel uncomfortable with what they have, it’s a terrible feeling i am by no means judging these individuals. I am however absolutely judging those who decided they had the right to interfere with your natural sexual characteristics and i personally am firmly against such practices. There are exceptions where surgical interference is neccessary for a persons wellbeing but these cases are not at all common and not what im refering to here, those practices are able to be performed with full consent of the individual. As ill likely repeat, what a person wishes to do to their own body for their own wellbeing is entirely their perogative.

No two sets of genitalia are the same regadless of Gender or assigned sex at birth.
Intersex and TransGender people have any combination of sexual characteristics. Intersex people also sometimes have two internal sets of reproductive genitalia.

Intersex and Transgender individuals have the options of Surgery in many countries, though the world is still very much not inclusive of gender variations which is quite frankly dissapointing and misleading. Intersex people often experience erasure in that the world at large like to ignore their existence, despite the fact that intersex people are more statistically common than red hair for example.

Its important to remember gender is an internal mental, personal, identification that can, and often enough does, contradict the physical genitalia and sexual characteristics of a person. Not all who are Intersex and Trans undergo gender affirming surgery and there should never be external societal pressure to do so. What a person does or has done to their body for their own happiness and comfort and welbeing is noone’s business but the individual’s.

Bottom Surgery

This topic is close to my heart as a Man with a vagina. It is my own personal opinion that the medical advances with Phalloplasty are lacking. Due to excessive health issues regarding my female reproductive system, any gender affirming “bottom” surgery is high risk and an extremely long road to recovery (if the surgery ive recieved for endometriosis is anything to go by). For me, a hysterectomy will be my version of “bottom” gender affirming surgery and i’m content to use packing and Stand to pee (STP) packing items and strap-ons to fullfill my lower half needs of affirming my gender identity.

What an idividual needs in order to feel comfortable in their own skin is their own perogative. i cannot stress this enough. I by no means seek to dissuade others from phalloplasty (or vanigoplasty) as it is an entirely necessary and positivly impacting surgery for many people. i absolutely will revisit this topic personally throughout my life, keeping up with advances as they occur. Once, if it reaches a point i would be happy with, the potential risks being far outweighed by the positives, you’d best believe i’ll be signing myself up.

From my limited and in my by no means professional opinion, it would seem to be that vanginoplasty is actually far more advanced and i personally have met those who have had this gender affirming surgery and though recovery was long it absolutely was the right choice for them. I also know others that hold similar opinions to how i feel about phalloplasty. As i said, only the individual themselves can tell you what they would be happy with to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Top surgery

I am 100% behind masectomy and breast augmentation surgery if thats something that will benefit your wellbeing and in particular your mental health. I absolutely will be looking into a double masectomy for myself as my breasts are a huge issue for me physically and mentally. Comparitively speaking this surgery, whether adding or subtracting, is far, FAAAAARRRRR safer, with excellent sucess rates and patient satisfaction.

It’s important to note though that there should absolutely be no pressure to undergo any surgical procedures to affirm gender if that is not something you are interested in doing. Some view this as entirely unneccessary for improving their wellbeing and, right on, you do you boo, i support you in whatever makes you happiest in your own skin.

Thats all from me for now, until i have the energy to info dump again, stay safe and look after one another. The world is a better place with you in it, peace.

Side Note 2: SAFE SEX PRACTICES ARE IMPORTANT, ALWAYS PRACTICE SAFE SEX WITH ENTHUSIASTIC CONSENT. There is a post here somewhere about safe sex practices and another about consent particularly for ethical non monogamous people so head there next if you want more information.
